Thank you for visiting the Rhodes Foundation Educational Scholarship Trust [RhodesFST] website. We have tried to make the Website and the information contained within it as straightforward and accessible as possible. We hope it encourages you to consider applying for a scholarship bursary.
RhodesFST is a Charitable Trust which was set up in 1989 to commemorate the late Lord Rhodes who throughout his life was tireless in his support for the work of the Probation Service in the North West of England.
The purpose of Rhodes FST is to support criminal justice practitioners and managers to visit projects around the world (and in the UK) and share the learning. We do this by providing bursaries (usually between £1000 - £2000) to cover the costs of travel, accommodation and subsistence.
In October 2018, we formed a partnership with Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) School of Law to offer additional support for Rhodes scholars for the duration of their research/visits. Scholarship recipients are also encouraged to disseminate their research through publication. The work of previous scholars has been published in the Probation Journal and along with academic colleagues at LJMU, members of the Journal's Editorial Board are on hand to provide advice on the Journal's publication and peer review process.
Bursaries are available for employees of the National Probation Service (North West and Greater Manchester) and probation professionals from provider companies in the North West and Greater Manchester (currently being reconfigured by the Ministry of Justice).
